Your Buck Lake FL Real Estate Resource

Imagine a life filled with never-ending decisions to make. After dinner, do you gather the kids and the dog and wander down to a neighborhood park to play, or do end the day on a relaxing sunset stroll on a nature trail? On Saturday morning, do you challenge yourself on a well-maintained “must ride” biking trail, or do you make a short drive to nearby shopping to pick up groceries and a new outfit? On the Fourth of July, do you spend the day picnicking and listening to local bands as you wait for fireworks to begin, or do you invite the neighbors over for a relaxing backyard barbecue? These are just a few of the lovely decisions residents of the Buck Lake neighborhood make on a daily basis.

Buck Lake is a large, mixed use community on the eastern edge of Tallahassee. It is roughly bordered on the west by Capital Circle southeast, on the north by I-10, on the east by Baum Rd, on the south by the Lake Lafayette System.

Opportunities for outdoor living are abundant in this community. The J.R. Alford Greenway provides 800 acres of lakes, pastures, forest, and freshwater swamp. It is a site on the Great Florida Birding Trail, and also includes seventeen miles of multi-use trails.

The 795-acre Lafayette Heritage Trail Park is a marvelous place to fish, exercise, bike, and run. It is most known for the Cadillac Mountain Trail, a 3.75 mile intermediate and expert skill level biking trail, and the Lafayette Passage Paddling Trail, which allows paddlers to explore flora and fauna of the Piney Z and Lower Lafayette Lakes up close. The area also includes three shelters for picnicking, a bike wash, and a playground.

Just west of the Lafayette Heritage Trail Park is Tom Brown Park, the most popular place to play in Tallahassee. Dedicated in 1977, the park hosts many of Tallahassee’s special events, and it provides numerous recreational sites. The park’s two playgrounds, 24-hold disc golf course, tennis and basketball courts, baseball and softball fields, and BMX and radio control tracks offer something for everyone in the family. Even four-legged family members can have their opportunity to play in the dog park!

The Buck Lake neighborhood has several highly rated schools, and is just a few minutes’ drive from grocery stores, abundant shopping, and restaurants. It is located minutes from I-10; approximately five to six miles from downtown Tallahassee, FSU, and FAMU; and a short twenty minute drive to the Tallahassee airport.

Homes in the Buck Lake area range in price from approximately $250,000 to $600,000, and prospective residents can choose from homes located on easy to maintain 0.15 acre lots up to multi-acre estates. Some undeveloped sites are also still available.

The scenic Buck Lake neighborhood maintains the feel of country living, while also providing the benefits of proximity to excellent schools, shopping, downtown, and local universities. Families, young professionals, and empty nesters can all find their niche in this wonderful eastside community.
